Former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, has died at the age of 80.
Olajide, who served as SSG during the administration of late former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
His death was confirmed in a statement issued by his family on Wednesday.
The family described the late statesman as a devoted family man and expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for his impactful life.
“It is with gratitude to Almighty Allah for a life well lived, and with submission to His will, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and cousin, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, who returned to his Creator today, August 25, 2026,” the statement read.
“May Allah grant the entire family and all his loved ones the strength, patience and comfort to bear this loss.”
According to the family, the Janazah prayer will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 11:00am at the MAN Centre, Oke Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Olajide’s passing marks a significant loss to Oyo State’s political community, particularly for those who worked closely with him during the Ajimobi administration between 2011 and 2019.
