Nigerian actress Laide Bakare has received the esteemed Ambassador of Peace award from The United Nations International Peace and Governing Council, recognizing her significant contributions to the promotion of peace and global cooperation.
Upon being honored with the award, Bakare expressed her gratitude and emphasized her dedication to continuing her peacebuilding efforts. She stated, "I'm deeply humbled to receive this recognition," highlighting the importance of peace as a foundation for progress and prosperity. Bakare reiterated her commitment to fostering understanding and cooperation among nations and communities.
In addition to her advocacy for peace, Bakare also addressed the need for increased female participation in politics, calling for more women to take on leadership roles. She pointed out, "Women represent a substantial portion of our population, and their voices deserve to be heard. We must have more women in positions of power to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the decision-making table."
The Ambassador of Peace award is a distinguished recognition by the United Nations, aimed at honoring individuals who have made exceptional contributions to promoting positive change and advancing peace worldwide. Currently, Laide Bakare serves as the senior special assistant on Entertainment and Culture to the Governor of Osun State.
