Olubadan Coronation: Police Warn Against Unauthorized Processions, Tighten Security

A s Ibadan prepares for the coronation of Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan, the Oyo State Police Command has issued a strong security advisory to ensure peace and order. In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, the command warned against unauthorized processions and movements during the event, stressing that any group or individual found disrupting the ceremony would face the law.

Security has been tightened across the city with increased patrols, surveillance, and stop-and-search operations. Major entry and exit points, including the Ibadan airport and train stations, will also be under strict watch. The police announced that from 7:00 a.m. on coronation day, several routes leading to Mapo Hall — including Beere to Mapo, Born Photo to Oja’ba, Idi-Arere to Oja’ba, and Itamerin to Mapo Hall — will be closed to traffic.

While the command emphasized that the coronation is a historic and joyous cultural celebration, it also called on residents and visitors to cooperate fully with security officials, avoid illegal gatherings, and report suspicious activities. The goal, police said, is to maintain peace, protect lives and property, and ensure that the coronation reflects the dignity and heritage of Ibadan.
