The Oyo State Government has launched a strategic initiative to prepare for the 2025 fiscal year by hosting a four-day training program for senior officials from all 33 local government areas (LGAs). The event, held at the Local Government Staff Training School in Ibadan, aims to harmonize LGA budgeting processes with the National Chart of Accounts (NCOA), promoting transparency, accountability, and uniformity in fiscal management.
Speaking at the event, Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters Commissioner Ademola Ojo praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for prioritizing grassroots governance. He stressed that the training underscores the state’s commitment to effective service delivery and standardized budget practices.
Economic Planning and Budget Commissioner Prof. Musbau Babatunde echoed this sentiment, highlighting the administration’s focus on fostering good governance through harmonized budgeting. He emphasized the need for LGAs to adopt transparent systems to ensure efficient resource allocation.
Lead consultant Dr. Ayuba Onifade commended the collaboration between ministries in organizing the program. He explained that participants would learn to prepare the 2025 budget using NCOA-aligned formats, enhancing accuracy and compliance with national standards.
The training is expected to strengthen the capacity of LGA officers, ensuring timely budget preparation and improved public service delivery across the state.
