Adekanmbi, Ex-Finance Commissioner to Late Governor Ajimobi, Dumps APC

Mr. Abimbola Adekanmbi, former Finance Commissioner and Deputy Chief of Staff in Oyo State under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He delivered the resignation notice to his Ward 1 Chairman in Ibadan North East Local Government, marking a turning point in his political journey.

The resignation letter was also forwarded to party leadership in Ward 4, Ona Ara Local Government, and to the APC State Chairman in Oke Ado, Ibadan, to ensure awareness across various levels of the party structure. In his letter, Adekanmbi stated:

“I hereby formally tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This marks the end of a significant chapter in my political journey — one that began from the very inception of the Party. Through seasons of growth and challenge, I have remained steadfast in my commitment and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute, in my own way, to the service and progress of our dear Oyo State.”

He noted that throughout his years of public service, he had worked at ward, local government, state, and national levels alongside committed men and women. He expressed gratitude for the bonds formed, the shared achievements, and the lessons learned.

Referring to the decision to resign, Adekanmbi refrained from disclosing specific reasons for leaving, but acknowledged that political alignment and personal conviction sometimes diverge. He wished APC well in its future endeavors and prayed for continued growth and success for Oyo State and its people.

As a 2023 senatorial aspirant, his departure is expected to generate conversations about where he might go next, how it affects internal APC dynamics in Oyo, and what influence it might have on upcoming election alignments.
