The governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi, has intensified his grassroots consultations across the state as part of efforts to secure the party’s ticket ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial primaries.
Ajadi met with PDP stakeholders and community leaders in the Ibarapa zone yesterday, where he reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance and promised to ensure that development is spread across all parts of the state if elected governor.
The consultation, held at the Community Hall in Igbo-Ora, attracted party members, local leaders, and supporters who gathered to listen to his political agenda.
Speaking at the meeting, Ajadi reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, describing the party as a major pillar of Nigeria’s democratic history. He noted that his ambition is driven by a desire to strengthen the party and build on its legacy at both state and national levels. He explained that his ongoing consultations were aimed at engaging critical stakeholders and formally communicating his intention to run for the governorship seat.
Ajadi further expressed confidence in the PDP’s structure, saying the party remains a strong platform capable of delivering good governance. He also pledged to build on the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde, particularly in infrastructure and governance, if given the mandate to lead the state.
He assured residents that his administration would prioritize continuity and expansion of development projects across Oyo State, including rural communities such as Ibarapa. According to him, no part of the state would be left behind under his leadership.
In their separate remarks, local leaders in the Ibarapa zone expressed support for Ajadi’s aspiration. The Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Sola Adeleke, described him as a competent and accessible aspirant who has demonstrated loyalty to the party over time. He also commended Ajadi’s role during past internal challenges within the PDP, noting that his intervention helped strengthen unity among party members.
Similarly, the PDP Senatorial Chairman in the zone, Kamorudeen Adeyemi, praised Ajadi’s commitment to grassroots politics and his consistency within the party structure. He said Ajadi’s political approach reflects dedication, discipline, and loyalty, adding that his style of engagement is similar to that of Governor Makinde.
Ajadi’s consultation tour is expected to continue across other zones of Oyo State as political activities intensify ahead of the PDP governorship primaries.
