Circular Road: Oyo Govt Pays ₦200m Compensation to Another Batch of Property Owners

The Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, handed over cheques to the beneficiaries on Thursday at the Ministry of Lands. He explained that the latest payment represents the fourth batch of disbursement to those whose properties were acquired for the project.

Akin-Funmilayo disclosed that 193 of the 298 affected property owners have now been compensated, while 105 others are expected to come forward for screening before their payments can be processed. According to him, the screening exercise is vital to ensure that only verified beneficiaries are paid.

He noted that out of the ₦980 million set aside for compensation, the state government has so far disbursed ₦780 million, reaffirming its commitment to ensure that all affected persons are duly compensated.

One of the beneficiaries, Prophetess Funmi Olawale, commended Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for fulfilling his promise, describing the payment as a relief to property owners.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Audu Ademola Hakim, alongside other senior government officials.
