Court arraigns suspect over 5 goats, injuring victim in Ibadan

A 54-year-old man, Nureni Rauf, has been arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the alleged theft of five goats valued at N300,000.

Rauf, who is facing a five-count charge including conspiracy, stealing, dangerous driving and causing bodily harm, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

“The defendant allegedly stole five goats and, while attempting to escape, drove recklessly and injured one Tasiu Hassan,” the prosecutor, Inspector Funmilayo Ige, told the court.

The prosecution said the incident occurred on July 24, 2026, in the Oloje, Ireakari area of Soka, Ibadan, adding that the offences contravene the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State and traffic regulations.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until October 14, 2026, for hearing.
