Fire Destroys Equipment at Sun Watt Solar in Ibadan; No Casualties Reported

A fire outbreak severely damaged the training office of Sun Watt Solar and Electrical Company in Ibadan on Thursday evening, destroying expensive equipment but sparing lives, the Oyo State Fire Service has confirmed.

Around 6:12 p.m., the Oyo State Fire Service received a distress call after a blaze erupted on the upper floor of the Salinsile building on Iwo Road, where Sun Watt maintains its training office.

Firefighters promptly responded and contained the blaze, preventing its spread to other parts of the building. Despite their best efforts, equipment and property worth millions of naira were destroyed. 

There were no injuries or fatalities. The company and state fire officials are conducting a post-incident investigation to determine the origin of the fire. 

Sun Watt Solar is primarily involved in solar training and electrical installations, making this incident a blow to their operations. Community leaders and stakeholders have expressed concern, urging stricter fire safety measures in commercial and industrial buildings in Ibadan.
