Fire Razes Shops in Ibadan, Goods Worth Millions Lost

The Governor’s Special Adviser on Fire Reform and Chairman of the Fire Services Agency, Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, confirmed the development. According to him, the alert came from a vigilant passerby, Mr. Lateef of Amotekun Bodija Division, who noticed the flames and raised the alarm.

Firefighters, led by ACFS Mrs. Adedeji, arrived quickly and battled the blaze. Their swift action curtailed the spread of the fire and safeguarded other shops and nearby structures from destruction.

Preliminary findings point to smouldering embers left behind after business hours as the likely cause of the outbreak.

Akinwande, while appreciating the timely response of his officers, stressed that several millions’ worth of goods were saved because of the intervention. He also appealed to residents and business owners to take fire safety more seriously by installing extinguishers and keeping emergency contacts handy to avert such disasters in the future.
