Oyo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs. Rosemary Alo, gave the caution in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ibadan.
She advised the public to always verify the accreditation status of a driving school before enrollment, stressing that doing otherwise could lead to wasted time and resources.
“We are constantly organising training for driving school instructors to ensure they acquire the right knowledge needed to properly train new drivers. People must make sure they register only with FRSC-accredited schools,” she said.
Alo added that individuals trained in uncertified schools risk receiving poor instruction while losing both time and money. She emphasised that the FRSC would not recognise certificates from such schools for driver’s licence applications.
Highlighting the requirements for accreditation, the commander explained that driving schools must meet set standards, which include having qualified instructors, functional training vehicles, and adequate facilities.
“These standards are in place to guarantee quality training, minimise accidents, and improve overall road safety,” Alo noted.
She further warned that driving schools found violating the regulations risk sanctions such as suspension or outright withdrawal of their certificates.
