Malam Umar Idris Shuaibu, a close associate of former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, has predicted that the North — especially Kano State — will deliver overwhelming support to President Bola Tinubu in the2027 presidential election.
Shuaibu argues that this anticipated support is a repayment for Tinubu’s consistent overtures to northern leaders, his reconciliatory stance, and historical ties with the region. He said that those gestures have strengthened the APC’s presence in the North-West and across the northern geopolitical zones.
While some political actors, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, are actively working to weaken Tinubu’s foothold in the North, Shuaibu remains confident in the loyalty of northern voters, citing Ganduje’s influence and the president’s lingering goodwill in the region.
Observers note that such predictions are bold, given Nigeria’s complex regional, religious, and political dynamics. Winning a region like the North requires more than goodwill; it demands effective policies, credible performance, and convincing outreach ahead of 2027.
