The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has achieved a remarkable victory in all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 30 local government areas (LGAs) of Osun State. The announcement was made by Hashim Abioye, the Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), during a press conference held on Saturday.
Abioye characterized the election as both peaceful and well-managed, countering prior concerns expressed by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF). Nonetheless, he acknowledged that certain polling units experienced delays in the arrival of election materials, which were attributed to the arrest of OSSIEC officials.
He highlighted that these arrests occurred without any court orders authorizing them. Additionally, Abioye expressed regret to journalists regarding the shortage of accreditation tags and jackets, which he explained was due to the police sealing off the commission’s office.
