Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has made key appointments to the Local Government Commission and the State Pilgrims Board. Hon. Akinwale Akinwole, who contested as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Oyo North in 2023, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Commission. This move aims to enhance local governance and ensure effective administration at the grassroots level.
In another significant appointment, Abdul Rahman Agbotomokekere, son of the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, has been named a member of the State Pilgrims Board. This role is expected to contribute to the spiritual welfare of pilgrims from the state.
Other appointees to the Local Government Service Commission include Mr. Yusuf Ali Akinkunmi, Alhaji Oke Taiwo, Mr. John Abisoye Adisa-Oke, and Mrs. Nike Arewa. These individuals will serve as full-time and part-time members, bringing their diverse expertise to the commission.
The Muslim wing of the Pilgrims Welfare Board has also seen new members join, including Abdu Rahman Agbotomokekere, Amusat Ayyub Agboola, Dawud Afolabi, Latifat Dairo, and Mallam Abdusallam Abdullateef. These appointments are expected to bolster the board’s efforts in managing and supporting Muslim pilgrims.
Previously, Alhaji Hashim Atere and Alhaji Abdulrasheed Olokuta were appointed as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), respectively. These appointments, communicated through a letter by the Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Segun Ogunwusi, are effective immediately.
