Makinde Has Etched His Name in Gold – Ibadan Mogajis President, Ariori

Speaking in an interview with The People’s Verdict, Ariori commended the governor for his developmental strides and his openness to the counsel of the people.

“The Seyi Makinde administration has done so much to develop Oyo State. For instance, he resolved all outstanding issues around the Olubadan chieftaincy to everyone’s admiration. Look also at the Circular Road project; once completed, it will transform the economy of Ibadan and the entire state. The governor has reconstructed several roads – from Orita-Challenge to Gate, New Gbagi Market to Alakia, Ibadan-Ife Expressway, and Airport Road to Gbagi. Ring Road has also been turned around. The roads he has done are countless,” Ariori said.

He noted that Makinde’s contributions to the completion of the new Olubadan Palace were monumental, stressing that the project – regarded as the first of its kind in Africa – was delivered under Makinde’s watch. “The governor contributed more than 95 percent to the project, personally supported it, and also mandated local government chairmen to lend their backing. This is unforgettable,” he said.

On cultural matters, the Mogajis President praised Makinde for allowing prominent Ibadan indigenes, rather than government officials, to dominate the Olubadan Coronation Planning Committee. According to him, this decision reflects the governor’s respect for tradition and the role of the traditional institution in preserving the people’s heritage.

“Makinde has shown utmost respect for our culture and customs. Ibadan will never forget him for the great and mighty things he has done,” he declared, adding a prayer for divine reward for the governor.

Ariori also lauded Makinde’s employment drive, revealing that two of his children secured jobs during the last state recruitment exercise without lobbying. “The recruitment was based strictly on merit. That is commendable,” he said.

Describing the governor as competent, capable, and courageous, Ariori concluded: “Governor Makinde is a promise keeper who has used his leadership platform to uplift the people of Oyo State.”
