Alhaji Yusuf Sharafadeen Alani, popularly known as “Alwajud” and Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on the Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo federal constituency, has publicly commended the governor for approving the construction of the 30-kilometre Igboho-Kisi road. He described the development as a major relief for communities that have long awaited meaningful infrastructure investment.
Speaking in a telephone interview, Alwajud said that residents of Irepo, Oorelope, Olorunsogo and the adjoining corridor had suffered for years from poor road conditions, limited connectivity and slow movement of goods and people. He stated that the governor’s approval of this project signals that the administration listens to the needs of the people and acts accordingly.
He extended his gratitude to the governor and his team, emphasising that the road approval is not just about pavement but about restoring dignity, facilitating economic activity and improving quality of life for citizens in the region. For farmers, traders, commuters and youth, he said the project holds promise of shorter travel times, safer transportation and expanded market access.
Alwajud also referenced other approved state initiatives, noting the construction of the 72 Mobile Force Squadron Base at Ago-Are in the Oke-Ogun area among the recent strategic investments. He said these combined commitments portray the government’s broader agenda of security, infrastructure and regional upliftment.
He highlighted that the Igboho-Kisi route has been a longstanding concern for road users and local residents, many of whom have logged complaints about the state of the road, the frequency of vehicle breakdowns, potholes and hazardous driving conditions. The approval, he said, brings hope for transformation.
Despite the optimism, Alwajud acknowledged that the real test will lie in execution — in how quickly the contracts are awarded, work begins, community stakeholders are engaged, and disruption is managed. He urged the government to maintain transparent procurement, inclusive stakeholder participation and consistent updates to the public.
He further asserted that the governor’s promise-keeping sends a strong signal to citizens: that when elected leaders commit to deliverables, progress can be achieved. He encouraged the youth in the locality to monitor implementation and hold the system to account, ensuring that the investment translates into tangible improvements.
In closing, Alwajud said the Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo constituency is united in gratitude and optimism. He pledged that local leadership will continue to collaborate with the state government to ensure the road becomes a catalyst for regional development, improved mobility and enhanced economic opportunities.
