The Oyo State House of Assembly Correspondents have officially commended the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, for what they described as "giant strides" and outstanding leadership achievements recorded during his tenure as the Chairman of the Nigerian Conference of Speakers (NCS). In a statement signed by the chairman of the correspondents' chapel, Mr. Mosope Kehinde, the media practitioners noted that Ogundoyin's leadership brought renewed strength, visibility, and cohesion to the national body.
The correspondents emphasized that Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin’s tenure was characterized by a strong commitment to institutional reforms and inter-parliamentary collaboration. They noted that under his watch, the Conference engaged progressively with key national stakeholders, including the National Assembly, the executive arm of government, and various development partners. These engagements, they argued, significantly elevated the role of state legislatures in Nigeria's democratic development and ensured their contributions were felt on the national stage.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted Ogundoyin's consistent advocacy for constitutional reforms and capacity building for lawmakers. The correspondents credited him with prioritizing the welfare of legislative staff across the federation, a move they said has strengthened democracy at the sub-national level. "Under his leadership, the Nigerian Conference of Speakers recorded remarkable achievements in promoting unity among Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, defending legislative independence and amplifying the voices of state legislatures in national discourse," the statement read.
Concluding their tribute, the Oyo Assembly correspondents congratulated the Speaker on the successful completion of his tenure, expressing confidence that his contributions would serve as a reference point for future leaders of the Conference. They described him as a "worthy ambassador of Oyo State" and a source of pride to the Nigerian legislative community, wishing him continued success in his future political and leadership pursuits.
