Olugbon Hails Ladoja’s Emergence as Olubadan, Describes It as Blessing to Oyo State

Oba Alao, who is the Vice Chairman of the Council, made this known during a courtesy visit to Oba Ladoja at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Thursday.

According to him, Ladoja’s ascension marks a historic moment not only for Oyo State but also for Nigeria, as a former governor now becomes the paramount ruler of Africa’s largest city. He assured that the Council of Obas would work closely with the Olubadan, government, and other stakeholders to promote peace and development across the state.

“Our first priority as traditional rulers is Oyo State. With the new Olubadan joining our council, we are indeed blessed. His wealth of experience is invaluable, and we will continue to support the state government to ensure peaceful coexistence,” Olugbon said.

In his response, the Olubadan-designate commended Olugbon for his support and praised the show of solidarity from Yoruba monarchs, including the Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo, Soun of Ogbomoso, and others.

Oba Ladoja called on Baales and Mogajis to take responsibility for security within their territories, warning against land grabbing, which he said discourages investors. He stressed that community leaders must prioritize the safety of their domains.

He also promised an inclusive reign, urging Ibadan indigenes to see his leadership as a collective responsibility. Ladoja further emphasized the role of women in the city’s growth, noting the contributions of prominent Iyalodes such as Chief (Dr.) Onikepo Akande and Chief (Mrs.) Moji Ladipo.
