The Vice Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adewale Babatunde, has extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Oorelope and the entire Oyo State as they mark this year’s Isese Day celebration. He described the occasion as a time for deep reflection on the richness of Yoruba culture and identity.
In a goodwill message personally signed by him, Hon. Babatunde commended Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for declaring a work-free day in recognition of Isese Day. He noted that the governor's gesture provided citizens with the opportunity to celebrate their heritage freely and meaningfully.
“Your foresight and recognition of our heritage have given us the freedom to honour our roots, reflect on our identity, and celebrate our culture without restraint,” Babatunde stated.
He also praised the Executive Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Hon. Ogundiran Jacob Oluwale, for his unwavering commitment to cultural preservation, community development, and unity, which he said contributed significantly to the successful hosting of this year’s celebration.
In the same spirit, Babatunde acknowledged the invaluable contributions of His Royal Highness, Oba Dr. Moses Olawale Oyetola — the Onigbope of Igbope Land, Ona-Onibode of Igboho, and Alepata of Igboho — for his leadership in preserving Yoruba heritage. He highlighted the monarch’s role in keeping the community connected to its traditions and inspiring the younger generation to embrace their cultural identity.
As part of his message, the Vice Chairman offered traditional Yoruba prayers, invoking blessings of longevity, prosperity, and divine favour upon the land and its people.

He further emphasized that Isese Day should go beyond festivities, serving as a call to unity, cultural pride, and a renewed commitment to preserving Yoruba traditions for generations to come.
“May this Isese Day strengthen the bonds of unity, deepen our cultural pride, and remind us of the sacred duty to pass these timeless traditions to future generations,” he concluded.
