The government of Oyo State has reinforced its upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport in Ibadan by adding four brand-new buses to the airport’s fleet, signalling improved infrastructure and passenger-movement capacity ahead of the facility’s full operational launch.
During a brief presentation ceremony, the Commissioner for Information stated that the addition of these buses is part of the broader effort to modernise the airport’s services, enhance terminal mobility and prepare the facility for domestic and international traffic. He noted that reliable internal transportation is a key component of the passenger experience and reflects the government’s commitment to global-standard operations.
The four buses will be deployed to handle passenger transfers between arrival/departure points, parking areas, terminal buildings and auxiliary services. Airport management confirmed that the vehicles are high-capacity, air-conditioned and tailored for luggage and crowd movement to reduce bottlenecks and improve comfort.
Airport officials and state infrastructure planners highlighted that the buses align with the ongoing runway, terminal and navigational upgrades. By improving ground-support logistics, they expect smoother operations when the airport begins expanded domestic flights and transitions to international service. The state government reiterated that this small but significant investment shows attention to operational detail and readiness.
