Oyo has formed a committee to resolve disputes related to rural road projects.

The Oyo State Government has taken an important step to facilitate upcoming rural road construction projects by establishing a Grievance Redress Committee (GRC) to manage potential disputes. The committee was inaugurated on Friday in the Oluyole Local Government Area. 

During the inauguration, Debo Akande, the Director-General of the state Agribusiness Development Agency, stressed the need to adhere to the committee's guidelines to ensure smooth project implementation. He noted that the GRC is crucial for fostering positive relationships between contractors and the communities benefiting from the projects, in line with the goals of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). Akande urged all stakeholders to work together for a seamless experience during and after construction. 

Adeola Ekundayo, the State Project Coordinator of RAAMP, outlined the GRC's primary role, which is to address grievances from affected communities, particularly farmers whose lands may be impacted by the construction. He emphasized the importance of handling all complaints fairly and encouraged contractors to hire local workers to support the community’s economy. 
 

Akeem Olatunji, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, gave a welcome address, assuring attendees that maximum security would be provided throughout the construction process. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting development within the council. 

Overall, the formation of the GRC demonstrates the state government's dedication to transforming the rural landscape into a thriving agro-driven economy, a goal praised by Governor Seyi Makinde.
