Oyo Police Command’s DCP, Adejobi, laid to rest in Osun

Akinade Olusegun Adejobi, the late Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for operations in Oyo State Police Command, was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony held in his ancestral hometown of Orile-Owu, Osun State. Friends, family, and colleagues from all walks of life gathered at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church to bid their final farewell to the respected police officer.

The funeral service was attended by several high-ranking police officials, including Oyo State Police Commissioner Johnson Adenola and Lagos State Police Commissioner Jimoh Moshood. Also present were Oyo State’s Security Adviser CP Fatai Owoseni and representatives from various police associations. The deceased’s family, led by his brother ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, was supported by the Police Officers’ Wives Association, headed by Mrs. Taibat Adenola, wife of Oyo State’s Police Commissioner.

The ceremony began with a burial parade as eight police officers carried the casket into the church. A guard of honor salute was performed, followed by the placement of a police cap, shoes, and sword on the police flag draped over the casket, symbolizing the late DCP’s death in active service.

In his sermon titled “Victory Over the Power of Death,” the Bishop of Oke-Osun Diocese of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Rt Revd O.A. Fabuluje, offered words of comfort to the mourners. He referenced biblical passages to emphasize that believers do not die but sleep, awaiting resurrection at Christ’s second coming. The bishop also prayed for solace for the family, the Police Force, and all those affected by the loss.

The event was a poignant tribute to DCP Adejobi’s dedication and sacrifices, leaving a lasting memory in the hearts of all who attended.
