Oyo State Government Sets Date for 2025 Junior Officer Conversion Examination

Oyo State Government Sets Date for 2025 Junior Officer Conversion Examination

The Oyo State Government has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 Conversion Examination, a pivotal career advancement exercise for junior officers within the state civil service. The examination is slated to take place on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, located within the State Secretariat in Ibadan. This assessment represents a critical step in the professional trajectory of hundreds of civil servants seeking to upgrade their cadre and assume higher responsibilities within the bureaucratic structure.

The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, confirmed that the exercise will commence promptly at 9:00 a.m. He indicated that the examination is designed to test the competency and readiness of officers who have applied for conversion from their current junior ranks to more senior administrative positions. The rigorous scheduling underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining a merit-based system where career progression is tied to demonstrable skills and knowledge.

Over 250 personnel are expected to sit for this year's examination. The eligibility list comprises a diverse range of roles, including Clerical Assistants, Clerical Officers, Stores Attendants, and Stores Keepers. Additionally, staff from the judiciary and other allied sectors who have formally applied for the conversion process will be participating. This broad inclusion highlights the government’s intent to provide upward mobility opportunities across various departments of the public service.

Strict administrative protocols have been established to ensure the integrity of the process. Prof. Adelabu emphasized that participation is contingent upon the possession of an official examination slip. These slips are reserved exclusively for candidates who successfully completed and submitted their application forms by the deadline of Monday, December 15, 2025. This prerequisite is intended to streamline the accreditation process and prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access to the examination hall.

The Ministry has issued a stern warning regarding compliance with these guidelines. It was unequivocally stated that any applicant who failed to meet the submission deadline or who appears without the mandatory examination slip will be denied entry. This zero-tolerance policy regarding documentation is part of a broader effort to instill discipline and procedural adherence among the workforce.

Furthermore, the integrity of the examination extends to the post-assessment procedures. The Commissioner highlighted the critical importance of the attendance register, noting that any candidate who fails to properly sign in and out will not be recognized as having participated. This measure serves as a safeguard against impersonation and ensures that the final results accurately reflect the physical presence of the candidates.

Candidates have been advised to prioritize punctuality and to conduct themselves in an orderly manner throughout the exercise. The venue, Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, has been prepared to host the candidates comfortably, but the smooth conduct of the exam relies heavily on the cooperation of the attendees. The Ministry expects a "hitch-free" process, provided that all instructions are strictly followed.

Ultimately, this conversion examination is more than a mere administrative formality; it is a mechanism for capacity building. By facilitating the transition of junior staff into senior cadres, the Oyo State Government is effectively refreshing its workforce and ensuring that experienced personnel are retained and empowered. The successful conduct of this exam will mark another milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to professionalize its civil service and enhance service delivery to the public.
