Speaking during the visit, Obi said he came to congratulate the former governor as he prepares to be crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. He described Ladoja as a leader whose experience and vision would be of immense benefit to the people.
“This visit is not just about felicitations; it is about Nigeria and the need for a new kind of service-driven leadership. Oba Ladoja is a man of experience who will bring great value to Ibadanland. The era of glamour is over; what matters now is what leaders can truly offer their people,” Obi stated.
In his response, the Olubadan-designate expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life and for the privilege to ascend the throne. “That I am alive today is yet another proof of God’s grace upon my life. It is God who makes one Olubadan, not wealth or the influence of powerful people. That is why I will continue to give Him thanks,” Ladoja said.
He emphasized that the throne should not be mistaken for a seat of luxury but rather an avenue to serve. “Many people wrongly believe the throne is for glamour. That era has passed. What matters now is service and the impact you can make in the lives of the people,” he added.
