Police debunk claims of Boko Haram invasion in Oyo

In a recent development that has sparked both concern and clarification, the Oyo State Police Command has officially debunked rumors of a Boko Haram invasion in Oyo Town. The command issued a comprehensive statement addressing a trending video that allegedly showed articulated trucks carrying motorcycles and weapons, suggesting an imminent attack by Boko Haram elements.

The video, which quickly gained traction on social media platforms, depicted what appeared to be a coordinated effort by militants. However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Osifeso Adewale, confirmed that the footage was not recent but rather a recycled clip from 2022. This clarification comes as a relief to residents who had grown anxious over the possibility of extremist activities in their community.

The Oyo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, has been proactive in addressing the situation.
