The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) has mandated a multi-agency investigation into the recent list of individuals granted clemency under the President’s prerogative of mercy. The directive follows rising public concern over how certain names made the pardon list and the procedures used.
In the wake of backlash, the AGF said the pardon list is still undergoing final administrative checks and will not be implemented until every name has been verified for legal compliance. Agencies involved in the probe will include anti-corruption, drug enforcement and corrections oversight units.
