Residents Urge Governor Makinde to Fulfill Promise and Reconstruct Elebu Road

Residents Urge Governor Makinde to Fulfill Promise and Reconstruct Elebu Road

Residents of the Elebu area in Ido Local Government Area have publicly appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to deliver on his earlier commitment to reconstruct Elebu Road, which remains severely dilapidated years after the promise.

The road, originally constructed under a previous administration, has significantly deteriorated—turning into a liability rather than a link for the community. Locals say that during the rainy season the road is nearly impassable, posing serious risks and disrupting daily activity and commerce.

One resident noted that the community had taken matters into their own hands by filling potholes and grading sections, but such efforts only serve as short-term fixes and cannot substitute government-led reconstruction. The condition of the road has forced some residents to consider relocating, as it affects vehicle use, school runs and basic access.

The community reminds the governor of his public commitment at a health-centre commissioning where he pledged to prioritise the project. They now call for swift action: the release of contract awards, a clear timetable for construction, and transparent monitoring so the promise is not further delayed.
