Business leader, legal practitioner and philanthropist Amofin Beulah Adeoye has called on the people of Oyo State to prioritise competence, integrity and proven leadership when selecting their next governor ahead of the 2027 election. He emphasised that the state cannot afford to hand power to individuals whose track records are compromised or whose public commitments have been untested.
Adeoye argued that Oyo’s recent progress—from infrastructure upgrades to education, agriculture and fiscal reforms—was built on leadership that combines vision with accountability. He challenged political actors and voters alike: “We need those who have walked the talk, who have delivered beyond promises, and who will serve rather than seek office for its own sake.”
Highlighting the risks of electing leaders with questionable backgrounds, Adeoye warned that short-term gain can yield long-term damage. He encouraged citizens to look beyond ethnicity, religion or party logos and examine the credentials, past performance and character of aspirants. His message resonated with young professionals, women’s groups and community organisers seeking renewal and generational change.
Adeoye also pledged his own commitment to civic education and grassroots mentorship. He said that through his foundation, he will support programmes that equip voters with information and tools to make better electoral choices. “Our future depends on smart decisions today,” he noted, “not cheap slogans tomorrow.”
