In a recent statement, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim expressed his anxiety regarding the upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, scheduled for May 21 in Bilbao. After a resounding 4-1 victory over Athletic Club in the semi-finals, Manchester United secured a decisive 7-1 aggregate win, setting the stage for an all-English final at San Mames.
Currently, both Manchester United and Tottenham are performing poorly in the Premier League, positioned 15th and 16th, respectively. Despite their domestic struggles, the Europa League final carries significant weight, as the winner will earn a spot in next season's Champions League, highlighting the financial stakes involved.
Amorim remarked on the pressure of the final, stating, “I’m stressed already because of the final. If we don’t do it, then it means nothing. But we’re happy to be there, so let’s see.” He acknowledged the importance of delivering a positive result for the supporters, especially after a disappointing league campaign, emphasizing, “It's hard to describe what it's like to be the manager of this club, and you want to give the supporters something… It's the least we can do for these fans, for the support they have given us in this tough season.”
