While several top Premier League clubs have already made high-profile moves this summer, a number of notable players remain in limbo. Trophies may not be won in August, but decisions made in the final weeks of the window could prove decisive. Below, we examine key players whose futures are still unresolved.
Alexander Isak – Newcastle United
Newcastle maintain that Isak is not for sale, but the striker’s stance appears to be shifting. He was absent from the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and has reportedly informed the club of his desire to leave after three seasons. Liverpool are said to be preparing a major offer, potentially up to £120 million, to test Newcastle’s resolve. Arsenal remain interested but are currently prioritising a move for Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres. Losing Isak would be a significant blow for Eddie Howe ahead of a Champions League campaign, with pressure mounting as the deadline approaches.
Nicolas Jackson – Chelsea
Despite Chelsea’s insistence that Jackson is not available, the forward continues to feature in transfer discussions. After an inconsistent season and a red card that drew criticism during the Club World Cup, the club may be open to offers; particularly following the arrivals of Liam Delap and João Pedro. Manchester United had previously explored a deal but withdrew over valuation concerns. Should Chelsea seek a more streamlined attacking setup, Jackson could be among those to depart.
Alejandro Garnacho – Manchester United
Garnacho’s name has emerged among those potentially on Manchester United’s transfer list. Once seen as a long-term asset, the winger’s relationship with new manager Rúben Amorim appears to have soured. A reported dressing room incident, in which he was told to find a new club, has cast doubt on his future. At just 21, he retains strong market value, with Chelsea monitoring developments closely. United are expected to demand a substantial fee if he is to leave.
Christopher Nkunku – Chelsea
Nkunku’s debut season at Stamford Bridge has been marred by injuries and inconsistent form, and the influx of new attacking options has pushed him down the pecking order. Chelsea have quietly reduced their asking price from £65 million to the low £40m range. Clubs in Italy and Germany are showing interest, and while Chelsea are not actively seeking to offload him, they may be willing to negotiate in order to balance the squad and wage bill.
Marc Guéhi – Crystal Palace
Having resisted offers last summer, Palace now face a tougher decision over Guéhi. The centre-back has just one year remaining on his contract and has yet to sign an extension. Liverpool, in need of defensive reinforcements, have stepped up interest, while Newcastle could also return with a renewed offer. Palace remain firm negotiators, but time is running out to secure a fee before risking a free transfer next year.
Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace
Eze’s standout performances have made him a top target for both Arsenal and Tottenham. Spurs are expected to table a formal offer, while Arsenal remain engaged behind the scenes. Palace are wary of losing both Eze and Guéhi in the same window, but interest is intensifying. While his contract is less pressing, a fee approaching £60 million and a clear indication from the player could shift the club’s position.
Nathan Collins – Brentford
Collins impressed at Brentford last season and has attracted attention from several top-six clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Spurs. Although Brentford are not actively looking to sell, they are aware that a significant late-window offer could be difficult to refuse, particularly from a Champions League side.
Gianluigi Donnarumma – Paris Saint-Germain
Donnarumma remains PSG’s No. 1, but his name continues to surface in transfer talks. With the club open to reshaping their squad, a major offer from a Premier League club could prompt serious consideration. Manchester City, reportedly exploring long-term options to succeed Ederson, and Chelsea are both keeping close tabs. Donnarumma is believed to be open to a move to England.
Douglas Luiz – Aston Villa
Luiz could emerge as a late-window departure. Nottingham Forest are believed to be exploring a deal, though his wage demands may limit interest among mid-table Premier League clubs. Juventus had shown strong interest earlier in the summer but failed to reach an agreement. If Villa receive a satisfactory bid, they may choose to sell in order to reinvest before the deadline.
Jakub Kiwior – Arsenal
Interest in Kiwior from Serie A most notably AC Milan and Roma is growing. Arsenal are reportedly open to a sale if it allows them to recruit a more experienced defender. The Polish international has shown potential but needs more consistent minutes, and a late-window move could benefit all parties.
Other Unsettled Names
A number of players are not officially on the market but could still move if circumstances align. Among them:
Leandro Trossard (Arsenal)
Rodrigo (Leeds United)
Yoane Wissa (Brentford)
All three face uncertain roles at their clubs and could be tempted by the promise of more regular minutes elsewhere.
